Here is some basic information for getting
started using the Web Catalogue. To find more detailed
information on using the system, click the Help button,
which appears near the top of each Catalogue web page.
When you access the Library catalogue (by clicking the Web Catalogue
link on the Augusta Library Home Page), you will first see a page
presenting the Standard Search capability.
To search for a book or other item::
- Enter a search term in the keyword box.
- Choose whether to search the Subject, Title or Author
indices (or all three at once) by clicking one of the choices shown
just below the keyword box.
- Click the Search button to see the results of your
search. The results screen which show for each item whether it is in
the Library on on loan.
- You can use alternative search methods by clicking the
links for Enhanced Search or Visual Search.
It is not necessary to sign in to the Library system in order to search
the collection. However, it you would like to perform a
task that requires the Web Catalogue system to identify you (such as
checking the books you have on loan, renewing a loan, or reserving a
book), you must sign in
To sign in:
- Click on the Sign In link, found on many of the Web
Catalogue pages, in the upper right hand corner..
- Once you have reached the Sign In window, enter the barcode
from your Augusta Library patron card in the Login
Name/Barcode box. (note: the bar code uses zeros, not the letter
'O'.)
- Our Web Catalogue system does not require passwords, so
leave the Password box blank
- Click the Sign In button.
To display your current transactions (that is, to list
which Library items you have out on loan):
- Click the My Account link (found on a tab near the
top of the window).
- In the patron information window, click the Current
Transactions link
To renew a book or other item:
- Display your current transactions, as described above.
- Click the Renew button beside the book you'd like
to renew. (Note: the system does not allow online renewals of overdue
items.)
To place a reserve request for a book:
- Use a search to display the book you're interested in.
- Click the Details link for that book.
- In the Details window, click the Reserve button
beside the copy you'd like to reserve. (If the book is in the Library,
it will be held for you to pick it up;
if it is already reserved for another patron, your name will be added
to the reserve list.)
There are various other capabilities of the Web Catalogue, such as
using a Bookbag, and viewing the history of your transactions .
